Our Baker is a key player in ensuring our Bakery products look and taste amazing. You will be part of a team that emphasizes building lifelong relationships with our customers by focusing on understanding and exceeding their needs. In this role, you'll use the best ingredients to craft the most delicious selection for our guests, preparing and baking products to ensure only the freshest are available.
Your work will involve performing bench work according to established scratch procedures and preparing products to specifications. You will bake prepared items using appropriate time and temperature settings, insert products into proof boxes to ensure proper size and shape, and fry donuts according to established procedures. Maintaining the freshness of our inventory includes inserting and retrieving products from freezers and rotating items in bakery cases while following code dating procedures.
Beyond the kitchen, you will be the face of our bakery. You'll greet customers, help them locate products, and answer questions with sufficient knowledge to make suggestions. You will actively demonstrate suggestive selling techniques and provide active sampling when appropriate. Safety and sanitation are top priorities; you will maintain the cleanliness of equipment, tables, and floors, and assist in unloading deliveries to keep the backroom and cooler efficient.
Candidates must satisfactorily complete a job-specific skills assessment. We welcome applicants with 6 to 12 months of experience or those who have successfully completed the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program. Prior experience in the bakery or related industry is desired, though a high school diploma is not required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
