AVP, Reliability Engineer

About the Role

As an AVP, Reliability Engineer, you will step into a hands-on system design and architecture environment where you lead by example to ensure time-sensitive projects are delivered on time and to specification. This role is critical for supporting and maintaining business and commercial applications within Synchrony, ensuring high uptime and reliability while developing thoughtful solutions to anticipate bugs and maintain operational excellence. You will serve as a key leader within the team, influencing cross-functional groups to deliver cutting-edge customer communications applications.

You will be the right candidate if you possess a genuine passion for web software development, common sense in design thinking, and an obsession with writing elegant, testable, and scalable code. Success in this position requires the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, think like a customer to prioritize UX, and leverage a strong background in database and full-stack development. You will drive a CI/CD strategy, architect applications across the full stack, and mentor developers at all levels while collaborating with product managers, UX designers, and application architects.

At Synchrony, we are proud to offer choice and flexibility. Our way of working allows you the option to work from home near one of our Hubs or come into one of our offices. Occasionally, you may be required to commute to our nearest office for in-person engagement activities, such as business or team meetings, training, and culture events. We also value the ability and flexibility to travel for business as required.
