About the Team

At Synchrony, we are building a future where everyone can belong, connect, and turn ideals into action. Our culture is inclusive, valuing individual skills and voices. More than 50% of our workforce engages in Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), creating a safe space where community and passion intersect to foster learning and growth.

About the Role

The AVP, Model Validation serves as a key leader within our Risk organization, ensuring that our credit acquisition, account management, fraud, and marketing models adhere to Model Risk Management policies and regulatory standards (OCC2011-12/SR 11-7). This role exists to independently validate the accuracy and performance of complex statistical, AI, and ML models, identifying risks and resolving issues to protect the business.

You will operate with a high level of expertise and minimal technical supervision. Your day involves leading validation projects, performing in-depth analysis on large datasets, and collaborating with business teams to highlight model risks. You will also provide expert guidance on the latest developments in academia and the regulatory environment, supporting internal audits and regulatory examinations.

Our Way of Working

We are proud to offer flexibility. At Synchrony, you have the option to work from home near one of our Hubs or come into one of our offices. You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub for in-person engagement activities, such as regular business or team meetings, training, and culture events. Please note that occasional travel may be required for business purposes.

Hiring Process & Application

To apply, please ensure you meet the eligibility requirements, including being 18 years or older and having legal authorization to work in the U.S. (we do not sponsor employment visas for this role). The onboarding process includes a drug test, background investigation, and fingerprint submission.

If you require a reasonable accommodation to apply for a job or to perform your job, please contact our Career Support Line at 1-866-301-5627 (8am – 5pm CST, Monday to Friday). Representatives can assist with changes to the application process, alternate document formats, or specialized equipment.
