About the Role
This position serves as a subject matter expert dedicated to designing, developing, and delivering automation and instrumentation training. The primary mission is to support safe, reliable, and compliant operations by building workforce competency in PLC-based control systems, instrumentation, communications, and automation field devices.
You will partner closely with Operations, Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E), Safety, and leadership teams to ensure that technicians and operators possess the necessary skills to integrate PLCs with HMIs, flow computers, and SCADA systems. The role involves translating complex technical concepts into role-specific digital learning and instructor-led experiences, ensuring that change-management expectations are reinforced alongside technical proficiency.
Day in the Life
Your work will span both classroom environments and field locations, including training facilities and operational hubs. You will lead in-person training sessions focused on logic fundamentals, I/O setup, troubleshooting, and safe edits. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to developing and maintaining curriculum for instrumentation end devices, covering installation, calibration, verification, and the end-to-end signal path.
You will also drive the creation of computer-based training (CBT) modules and oversee training on industrial communications, such as Modbus, HART, wireless, and industrial Ethernet. Beyond content creation, you will track training records and metrics, continuously improving programs based on field learnings and incident trends to promote a culture of automation safety and compliance.

Requirements

Nice to Have
Associate degree or higher in Automation. 5+ years of automation experience including PLC-based control systems in an operations environment. Experience developing automation/instrumentation training curriculum, competency programs, and maintaining training content updates. Experience creating CBT/e-learning content and delivering training on PLC change control and industrial communications (e.g., radios, gateways, network architectures).
