The Michigan State University Department of Family Medicine is an active community of scholars dedicated to medical education and community health. As part of the College of Human Medicine, the department collaborates with a statewide network of residency programs and health systems, including rural and underserved populations. The Geriatrics Division within the Department of Family Medicine provides comprehensive care to older adults along the continuum of care, including outpatient settings, assisted living, and skilled nursing facilities throughout the Greater Lansing area. The division is committed to high-quality, whole-individual care delivered by physicians and nurse practitioners.
This unique fixed-term faculty position allows the successful candidate to combine clinical practice in geriatrics with teaching and/or research. Faculty in this role will provide care to geriatric patients while also teaching medical students, residents, and fellows during their clinical rotations.
The Department and College actively support faculty development, offering numerous opportunities to develop skills as an educator. Physician faculty have the chance to engage in research and scholarship independently or in collaboration with experienced research faculty. Additionally, the College and University offer robust opportunities for collaboration on community health projects, leveraging the nationally renowned Extension programs and the Department of Public Health.
