A private health system in Maryland is seeking a dedicated and dynamic physician leader to serve as the Associate Program Director (APD) for a new Emergency Medicine Residency Program. This is an exciting opportunity to help build and shape a residency program within a rapidly expanding academic health system and a newly established osteopathic medical school.
The role is situated in Hagerstown, MD, approximately one hour from Baltimore. The program serves a service area of more than 200,000 patients across Washington County and neighboring regions in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. As the largest employer in Western Maryland, the health system operates a high-volume, high-acuity environment with over 70,000 Emergency Department visits annually and nearly 4,000 trauma cases per year. The facility is currently transitioning from a Level III to a Level II Trauma Center, offering an exceptional foundation for Emergency Medicine training.
You will partner with the Program Director to support the development, ACGME accreditation, and implementation of this new residency program. The position is designed to build a program grounded in clinical excellence, innovation, and community-focused care.
In this role, you will provide leadership in curriculum development, resident education, and program evaluation. You will serve as a key educator and mentor for residents and medical students, supervising and teaching in both clinical and didactic settings. Administrative and clinical responsibilities will be structured to support both the growth of the program and your continued clinical practice.
