About the Role

The High School Associate Principal serves as a key leader in the overall administration of the instructional program and campus operations. Reporting directly to the Principal, this role is dedicated to coordinating student activities and services while championing the needs of students, employees, and the broader District.

This position requires a leader who acts with integrity and demonstrates the ability to inspire, grow, and motivate others. The Associate Principal is expected to utilize feedback effectively, drive for results, and commit to supporting organizational goals. The role involves fostering a positive, caring climate for learning, promoting collegiality among staff, and ensuring effective two-way communication with district personnel, parents, and the community.

A Day in the Life

The Associate Principal plays a vital role in school improvement by using campus data to evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and instructional strategies. You will work closely with the Principal to develop plans for ongoing professional learning and assist in defining expectations for staff performance regarding instructional strategies and classroom management.

Key aspects of the daily workflow include:

  • Instructional Leadership: Encouraging the development of innovative instructional programs that result in authentic student engagement and promoting the use of technology in the teaching and learning process.
  • Climate and Culture: Fostering team building among staff members and encouraging their active involvement in professional learning communities. You will also deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Operational Management: Supervising operations in the Principal's absence, helping to plan daily school activities such as class schedules and teacher assignments, and ensuring safety inspections and drill practices are conducted.
  • Student and Staff Support: Ensuring students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods and helping to develop a discipline management system that results in positive student behavior. You will also observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.

Application and Hiring Process

Candidates must possess a Master's degree from an accredited college or university and a valid Texas Assistant Principal or other Administrative certification. Additionally, applicants must have three years of experience as a classroom teacher and three years as a campus administrator, along with the ability to perform teacher evaluations.

Interested candidates should review the full list of required qualifications and special knowledge areas, including experience with Professional Learning Communities, Blended and Flipped Learning, and Special Education law, before applying.
