This role serves as a vital support pillar for our in-house legal team, performing a variety of routine paralegal and legal administrative duties. You will work directly with attorneys to manage standard matters, requiring a working knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and processes. Your day-to-day involves assisting with legal case preparation, file management, and the organization of claim and underwriting files to support litigation efforts.
In this position, you will be the operational backbone of the legal department. You will assist in responding to subpoenas, analyzing incoming pleadings, and conducting multi-database searches to identify parties and determine proper matter assignments. Your responsibilities include pulling and organizing files for litigation, reviewing documents for discovery requests, and assisting with privilege logs. You will also manage legal holds in accordance with preservation obligations and support outside counsel management.
You will conduct preliminary legal research as necessary, support the preparation of litigation materials, and track legally significant deadlines and compliance obligations. A key part of your role involves maintaining the attorney calendar, managing diary and tickler dates, and proactively handling upcoming events to ensure pleadings are served and filed on time. Additionally, you will input and maintain data in case management systems to ensure integrity and assist with various ad-hoc projects.
