The SMid/Large Cap Biotechnology Equity Research team covers companies spanning three main disease areas: oncology, central nervous system disorders, and rare diseases. The team is led by an analyst ranked in the top three in the Institutional Investor vote for the SMid biotech category. In 2021, the team successfully worked on several priced IPOs and add-ons and is currently vetting several additional transactions.
This position is designed for an intellectually curious individual with a deep desire to learn. You will work alongside the Senior Analyst and Associates in all aspects of the research process, from idea generation to modeling. The role requires a life science background and experience with financial modeling in either sell-side research or healthcare investment banking.
Your day-to-day will involve writing industry and company reports, developing doctor/patient surveys, and conducting interviews to understand market dynamics. You will build financial models to quantitatively analyze company valuations and demonstrate deep industry knowledge ranging from early-stage studies to market approval. A key part of the role is building relationships with contacts at covered companies and seeking out new, value-added sources of information. You will also monitor news flow to highlight stock-impacting updates and interact regularly with sales, trading, and external clients. As your performance on the team grows, you may take on coverage of individual names.
Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate strong writing and financial modeling skills, as well as the ability to follow the stock market and conduct both desktop and field research. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a collaborative team environment.
This is a 1st shift position based in New York, NY. The role requires being in the office 4 days per week.
