About the Role
The Associate Dean serves as a vital administrative and academic officer within the Arts and Sciences department, bridging the gap between strategic vision and daily instructional operations. This role is dedicated to fostering a high-quality environment of academic teaching and intellectual achievement while ensuring the department's alignment with broader College goals and objectives.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with other deans and associate deans to drive efficiency in scheduling, student learning outcomes assessment, and curricular initiatives. A unique aspect of this role is the commitment to active teaching; the Associate Dean is expected to teach one course per fall and spring semester, maintaining a direct connection to the classroom experience while leading administrative efforts. The position also involves creating and strengthening partnerships both within the College and with external community stakeholders, ensuring the department remains responsive to student and community needs.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements
- verifiedMaster's degree in English, Communications, or Humanities
- verifiedMaster's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in English, Communications, or Humanities
- verified5 years higher education teaching experience
- verified3 years progressive leadership in community college setting
- verified18 graduate hours in Rhetoric and Composition
Nice to Have
Three (3) years' progressive leadership in a community college setting, with success in administration of programs to include strategic planning, budgeting, operations, and collaboration with colleagues. Eighteen (18) graduate hours in Rhetoric and Composition from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
