The Extension Crop Production/Cropping Systems Specialist provides leadership for an interdisciplinary team dedicated to developing and delivering robust Extension and applied research programs. Focused primarily on row crop production and cropping systems for Kansas and the Central Great Plains, this 12-month tenure-eligible position operates with a 70% Extension and 30% Research appointment.
The role is central to fostering a positive impact across state, area, district, and county programs. The specialist will work effectively with a wide range of individuals, including colleagues in Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, Entomology, and Plant Pathology. Success in this position requires a deep understanding of the roles played by state and regional specialists and county/district extension agents in building successful collaborative programs.
The Department of Agronomy was established in 1906 to promote advances in agricultural practices in the state of Kansas. Throughout its history, the Department has had major impacts on transforming the bounty of Kansas's natural resources into the present standard of living enjoyed by its people.
