The Department of Pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine and ARUP Laboratories invites applications for a Hematopathology Medical Director. ARUP is a comprehensive, high-complexity reference laboratory serving a diverse clientele that includes over half of the nation's university teaching hospitals, children's hospitals, major commercial laboratories, military and government facilities, and numerous community hospitals. Due to this broad reach, the laboratory receives a wide variety of specimen types and testing requests, providing an extensive range of options that encompass both traditional techniques and specialized, esoteric testing in the field of laboratory diagnostics.
This position is designed for individuals with a strong interest in building an academic career in Hematopathology. The successful candidate will serve as a bridge between clinical diagnostics and academic training, engaging in clinical test result interpretation, quality control and assurance, and laboratory test development. A significant portion of the role involves teaching and training fellows and residents, alongside active committee service. The ideal candidate brings a strong clinical and academic background, complemented by excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
