The Assistant Principal for Elementary serves as a vital partner to the Principal, sharing the responsibility for the overall administration of the instructional program and campus-level operations. This role is designed to ensure a positive, caring climate for learning while driving school improvement through data-driven decision-making and collaborative planning.
In this position, you will act as a second appraiser for the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS), observing teacher performance and conducting evaluation conferences. You will work closely with staff, parents, and community members to develop campus improvement plans and articulate the school's mission to foster strong community relations. The Assistant Principal plays a key role in managing daily school activities, including scheduling, student discipline, and the coordination of support services such as transportation, custodial, and cafeteria operations.
This role requires a balance of administrative oversight and active engagement with the school community. The position involves frequent interruptions and the need to maintain emotional control under stress. While much of the work takes place in a standard office environment using personal computers, the role also includes working inside and outside the school building, with exposure to varying weather conditions and noise levels. The position may require prolonged or irregular hours, occasional districtwide or statewide travel, and the physical capability to perform occasional light lifting or, if necessary, the physical restraint of students to ensure safety and control behavior.
