The Assistant Director of Residential Life serves as the operational leader for a specialized 10-bed facility at the Euphrasian Diagnostic Reception Center in Brooklyn, NY. This role is critical to the daily functioning of a hard-to-place Group Residence and the Rapid Intervention Center, specifically designed for female adolescent participants.
In this position, you will lead a diverse team of Youth Development Counselors and Residential Life Supervisors to cultivate a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment. The core of this role involves embedding the principles of the Sanctuary Model and Youth and Family Development strategies into every aspect of the program. You will be responsible for fostering a non-violent, trauma-sensitive culture that prioritizes the emotional well-being and future potential of the youth in your care.
Your day will involve a dynamic mix of direct supervision, strategic planning, and crisis management. You will oversee daily schedules, staffing coverage, and program activities while ensuring seamless collaboration across departments, including Social Services, Health Services, Facilities, and the on-site school. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to mentoring staff, facilitating Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) trainings, and ensuring the team adheres to rigorous safety and trauma-informed protocols. The role requires flexibility, including scheduled on-call rotations and availability for evening, weekend, and holiday hours to support the needs of the residents and staff.
