D.A. Blodgett-St. John's provides a continuum of care with comprehensive services, including counseling, foster care, adoption, mentoring, and residential care. These programs are built on our core belief, backed by research, that as long as children can be safe, they do best when they are with their families. We primarily serve children, youth, and families in the greater Grand Rapids area, with some programming throughout the State of Michigan.
Our mission is to help children and empower families by providing safety, advocacy, and support. Our vision is a safe, nurturing home for every child and a supportive community for every family. We are dedicated to providing an inclusive and welcoming experience for all children, all families, and all individuals.
We operate under the Sanctuary Model, a trauma-informed framework that guides our culture through commitments to nonviolence, emotional intelligence, social learning, democracy, open communication, social responsibility, and growth. We strive to be a fully inclusive organization, building a diverse team that represents our customers and our community. We welcome differing thoughts, faiths, beliefs, groups, and lived experiences, recognizing that the diversity of each team member, foster parent, adoptive parent, child, and family makes us stronger together.
The Early Childhood Attachment Therapist provides relationship-focused, home- and community-based support to infants, toddlers, and their caregivers. This role is vital to our mission of keeping children safe within their families by strengthening the foundational bond between caregiver and child.
Using an Infant Mental Health framework, you will partner with families to promote healthy social-emotional development and reduce risks related to trauma, developmental delays, and behavioral or emotional challenges. Your day will involve direct therapeutic services, developmental guidance, and collaboration with childcare providers to help children thrive in their earliest years. You will work in dynamic environments, including client homes, childcare centers, and community settings, adapting interventions in real time to meet the unique needs of each family.
Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by our recruitment team to schedule a conversation. The process typically includes a review of qualifications, followed by an interview with the hiring manager and potential team members to discuss your experience and fit with our Sanctuary values. Finalists may be asked to complete a practical exercise or case study relevant to early childhood attachment work. We aim to move efficiently while ensuring a thorough evaluation of both clinical skills and cultural alignment.
