The Department of Neurology at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences provides comprehensive clinical services to the communities of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan for all types of neurological disorders. A core component of our mission is educating students, residents, and fellows while developing robust research programs dedicated to understanding and treating neurological conditions.

About the Role

We are seeking an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Neurology with a specialization in Epileptology to join our academic team. This full-time faculty position is designed for a professional who is committed to the highest level of competence across teaching, patient care, research, and service. The role serves as a vital link between clinical practice and academic advancement, requiring a balanced integration of these four pillars to support the Department of Neurology's function.

In this capacity, you will lead the EEG service, managing a 24-hour on-call rotation (7 days at a time, 1 in 6) and providing opportunities to read Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM) 1-2 days per week. Your clinical footprint will include a General Neurology inpatient service (4-8 weeks per year with night call every other night during those weeks) and an outpatient clinic schedule of 6-8 half days. Additionally, you will staff the resident outpatient continuity clinic for 6-8 days annually.

Beyond clinical duties, you will actively shape the next generation of neurologists by participating in the medical student lecture series, teaching rounds, and ambulatory clinics. You will also lead didactics for students, residents, and fellows, while providing mentorship and advising. Your scholarly contributions will involve leading research and other activities in your area of expertise, with an expectation of securing both intramural and extramural grant funding. Finally, you will contribute to the department's governance by serving on administrative and service functions as needed.

Hiring Process

Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree, have successfully completed a neurology residency and a fellowship in epilepsy or clinical neurophysiology, and be Board Certified (or become certified within three years of recruitment).
