About the Role
Forgent Power is seeking a motivated Application Engineer to support our Skidded Solutions, which include liquid-filled medium voltage transformers, switchgear cabinets, and inverters for the solar and energy storage industries. This role serves as the critical technical bridge between our customers and our internal teams, driving revenue growth and customer acquisition.
In this position, you will interface directly with current and potential clients to understand their unique equipment needs. Your day-to-day involves reviewing customer specifications, generating accurate quotes, and engaging in follow-up conversations to nurture open opportunities. You will collaborate closely with sales, product management, design engineering, and manufacturing to develop solutions that meet customer requirements while adhering to industry standards and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in mechanical design and practical integration, focusing on the design, optimization, and mechanical integration of structural skids with transformers and switchgear. You will act as a technical resource, providing guidance on product selection and customization, analyzing technical problems, and recommending solutions that ensure optimal performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- verifiedMinimum of 2–5 years of professional experience in application or mechanical design engineering
- verifiedProficiency in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD
- verifiedKnowledge of IEEE, IEC, UL and ASCE standards
- verifiedPE license (preferred)
- verifiedExperience in solar or energy storage industries (preferred)
- verifiedFEA modeling (preferred)
- verifiedElectrical, Control systems and/or data acquisition proficiency (preferred)
Nice to Have
Experience in the solar or energy storage industries. FEA modeling proficiency. Electrical, control systems, and/or data acquisition & field monitoring proficiency. Professional Engineer (PE) license.
