About the Role

This Clinical Pharmacist position is designed to provide direct operational and clinical patient services while collaborating within the department to enhance operations and clinical programs. You will act as a vital link in the multidisciplinary team, working to improve care, achieve optimal outcomes, and ensure continuity of care for patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics.

In this role, you will be delegated the authority to obtain patient medical histories, order and evaluate laboratory results, and make critical medication decisions, including modifying or discontinuing treatment when appropriate within your scope of practice. Your focus will be on providing evidence-based, cost-effective comprehensive medication management for patients with chronic conditions.

A significant part of your day will involve mentoring pharmacy students, residents, and new employees. You will share your clinical and scholarly activities to promote the evidence-based use of medications, representing Prisma Health through professional organizations, presentations, and publications. You will also serve as a liaison between the pharmacy department and service lines, ensuring pharmaceutical care is integrated throughout the patient's continuum of care.

Work Environment

This position requires flexibility to meet patient needs, with shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays. The balance between operational and clinical services will fluctuate based on patient requirements, staffing levels, and overall pharmacy workload. You will work in a fast-paced environment that requires the ability to handle urgent and stressful conditions while maintaining accuracy and compassion.

This role is based at Blount Memorial Hospital within the Pharmacy department.
