We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team on a 7-on/7-off night shift schedule. This position is designed for a generalist who thrives in a fast-paced hospital clinical laboratory environment, specifically serving a diverse patient demographic ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
In this role, you will function as a key member of the laboratory team, managing critical workflows across hematology, chemistry, and blood banking. You will be responsible for performing a wide array of tests using both manual and automated methods, including ABO/Rh typing, antibody screens, and complex crossmatches. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating advanced laboratory instruments, such as Beckman chemistry automation, and possesses a strong foundation in quality assurance and safety protocols.
This is a night shift position operating on a block schedule from 21:00 to 07:30. The rotation follows a 7x10-hour pattern, where you will work seven consecutive shifts followed by seven days off. Weekend coverage is required on an every-other-weekend basis. This schedule is designed to provide significant time off while ensuring continuous 24-hour laboratory support for the facility.
Candidates must have at least three years of experience in a hospital clinical laboratory setting; first-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment. Community hospital experience is a mandatory requirement. We welcome candidates with pending Rhode Island licenses, provided the license is active before the start date.
To apply, please submit your credentials through the designated portal. All candidates must comply with Tier 2 travel requirements, including a Return to Office (RTO) submission. Additionally, compliance with vaccination policies is required: the COVID-19 vaccine is mandatory (with medical exemptions only), and the flu vaccine is required (with medical, religious exemptions, or declinations allowed).
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, ensuring a supportive environment for all team members dedicated to patient care and laboratory excellence.
