Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Allergy, Immunology & Asthma physician to join the growing Vanderbilt Lung Institute. This faculty position focuses on the care of patients with asthma and allergic diseases while expanding industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical research programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to practice in a highly collaborative academic environment with access to robust clinical and research infrastructure across Middle Tennessee.
The Vanderbilt Lung Institute is a nationally and internationally recognized asthma program spanning the lifespan. The team includes 10 physicians and 6 Advanced Practice Providers across three clinical sites, including the West End location and satellite clinics. The environment is defined by a strong culture of mentorship, collaboration, and career development, with integrated research support including clinical research coordinators, specimen processing, and embedded regulatory infrastructure.
You will provide high-quality outpatient care for patients with asthma and allergic/immunologic conditions, supervising and collaborating with Advanced Practice Providers. The role utilizes onsite resources including full pulmonary function testing (PFTs) and comprehensive allergy testing. You will participate in a consult-only inpatient service (no primary admitting) and provide consult service on weekends and nights, with a clinical fellow providing first call.
A core component of this position is developing and growing an asthma-focused clinical trials portfolio with protected research time. You will participate in industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated asthma research, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in asthma, chronic sinus disease, food allergy, and drug allergy. The role also involves contributing to scholarly activity, academic publishing, and presentations, as well as teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows, and research staff.
Joining the Vanderbilt Lung Institute allows you to capitalize on an established, scalable asthma clinical trials platform and collaborate with experts in severe asthma pathobiology, diagnosis, and management. You will practice within a top-tier academic medical center known for innovation, teamwork, and physician support. The position is offered at 1.0 FTE (with consideration down to 0.7 FTE) and includes telehealth capabilities.
