About the Role

This position serves as a vital member of the clinical team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, providing comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy to inpatients facing a variety of medical conditions. The role is dedicated to performing malnutrition assessments, conducting nutrition-focused physical exams, delivering diet education, and formulating nutrition support recommendations. All functions are executed in strict adherence to applicable laws, hospital policies, and MedStar's "Spirit Values."

You will act as a key consultant to physicians and allied health professionals, offering expert insights on patient nutritional status, nutrient needs, and specific diet plans. The day-to-day involves formulating and documenting assessment, evaluation, and follow-up plans for patients at nutrition risk, participating in clinical rounds, and communicating effectively with administrative personnel. The role requires flexibility to cross-cover and train across diverse areas, including the Neonatal ICU and Pediatrics, while ensuring seamless relief and coverage for inpatient and outpatient services.

Beyond direct patient care, this position fosters professional growth through scholarly engagement. You will review relevant literature annually to present at Journal Club, deliver formal professional presentations to peers or the community, and attend meetings to enhance clinical practice. Maintaining current credentials with the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) and the DC Department of Health, along with participating in licensing surveys, ensures the highest standards of care are upheld.
