As an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher, you will play a vital role in helping students with disabilities achieve their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. Your work focuses on developing the motor skills necessary for appropriate development through instruction that integrates movement and motor functioning, strictly aligned with Louisiana state guidelines.
In this position, you will guide students toward achieving curriculum goals across academics, social skills, communication, and self-help skills. You will develop and implement physical education curricula tailored to exceptional needs, ensuring they meet Louisiana content standards. Your day-to-day involves conducting daily classroom activities, managing a productive learning environment, and utilizing diverse techniques to execute the curriculum. You will also facilitate extra-curricular physical education programs for students with exceptionalities and supervise paraprofessionals to support student success.
Candidates selected for interviews will be evaluated based on their professional competence and alignment with the Louisiana Teacher Performance Evaluation Rubric. The selection process ensures candidates can meet the standards of performance developed by the Orleans Parish Public School Board and all applicable state and federal guidelines.
