The Business System Analyst (Actuarial IT) serves as a critical bridge between the Actuarial Data Center and IT delivery teams. This position is designed to modernize legacy processes while ensuring the integrity of complex actuarial data. You will work within Agile scrum teams to elicit, analyze, and document business and technical requirements, driving initiatives that retire outdated workflows and implement robust, scalable solutions.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with business units to understand deep-seated actuarial needs, ranging from policy lifecycles and billing structures to reinsurance and statutory reporting. Your work will directly influence the modernization of the data center, utilizing cloud technologies like AWS to enhance system capabilities. Beyond requirements gathering, you will be hands-on in the development lifecycle, supporting production processes, identifying and remediating bugs, and ensuring high-quality user acceptance testing.
Your day typically begins with facilitating requirement sessions with stakeholders to align on business goals. You will translate these high-level needs into functional specifications and user stories within JIRA, working in tandem with developers to build technical solutions. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to data analysis using tools like SAS, SQL, R, and Python to validate data integrity and drive insights. You will also coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), manage incident and defect tracking for business-as-usual operations, and serve as a backup for other analysts during critical project phases or production support activities.
Candidates selected for this role will engage in a structured interview process designed to assess both technical proficiency and cultural fit. The process includes an initial screening to verify actuarial and technical background, followed by a technical deep-dive focusing on data modeling, SQL, and actuarial domain knowledge. The final stage involves a team fit interview to evaluate collaboration skills within an Agile environment.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or veteran status.
