The Accounting Manager serves as a strategic partner to the Director of Finance, directing and coordinating the daily activities of the accounting staff. This role is designed for a highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a dynamic nonprofit environment. You will be the guardian of our general ledger, ensuring the accurate and timely recording of revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities.
In this position, you will oversee the full cycle of financial reporting, from interim and monthly closings to annual audits and budget preparations. Your day-to-day involves interpreting complex financial data to aid agency leadership in decision-making, implementing process improvements, and fostering a culture of professional growth within your team. You will act as the primary liaison with external auditors and regulatory agencies, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, including Uniform Guidance (CFR) and A-133 audits.
You will lead a dedicated team comprising Grants Accountants, Senior Accountants, Accounting Specialists, and Junior Staff Accountants. Your leadership style will focus on maintaining professional, respectful, and accountable behavior through regular communication, coaching, and constructive feedback. You will be responsible for the professional development of your staff, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring that team members have clear, up-to-date performance goals.
