About the Role
As an Accountant within our Civil West team, you will play a vital role in supporting our operational and financial integrity. Your work ensures that contractual requirements are met and that financial transactions are executed with precision and timeliness. You will partner with project teams to provide ad hoc reports and analysis, assisting in the assembly of information for both internal and external financial reporting.
In this role, you will be the guardian of our financial compliance, ensuring that all necessary documentation—including insurance, bonding, and lien waivers—is in place. You will interpret trade partner documentation, manage client billing packages, and identify risk exposures to support strategic mitigation. Your contributions help build a future that is inclusive, resilient, and full of opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circlePerform general accounting and administrative functions to meet contractual requirements
- check_circleComplete all financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner
- check_circleParticipate in monthly forecast review meetings
- check_circleProvide project teams with ad hoc reports and analysis as needed
- check_circleAssist with the assembly of information for internal and external financial reporting
- check_circleAssemble client billings packages in accordance with contract terms and ensure timely payment
- check_circlePrepare bank deposits, monthly reconciliations, and cash receipt entries
- check_circleEnsure all required documentation including insurance, bonding, and lien waivers is in place
- check_circleInterpret trade partner documentation for accounting-related items following established procedures
- check_circleIdentify irregularities or risk exposure and support the development of strategies to address them
Requirements
- verifiedPostsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline
- verifiedActive pursuit of accounting designation considered an asset
- verified2 years of accounting experience in construction or a related industry preferred
- verifiedUnderstanding of full-cycle accounting and project forecasting and budgeting
- verifiedKnowledge of government legislation and generally accepted accounting principles
- verifiedIntermediate understanding of lien rights
- verifiedBasic exposure to bid and contract securities and insurance
- verifiedBasic understanding of subcontract PO terms including insurance and SDI and bonding requirements
- verifiedExposure to owner contracts
- verifiedSolid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with accounting software
Nice to Have
Active pursuit of accounting designation. 2 years of accounting experience in construction or a related industry.
