The Village of Addison Finance Department is seeking an Accountant to support the daily financial operations of the community. Reporting under the general direction of the Assistant Finance Director, this full-time, at-will position plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the Village's financial records.
The Accountant is responsible for executing routine accounting functions and managing numerous administrative and financial processes. Key duties include General Ledger maintenance, processing month-end and year-end journal entries, and preparing for the Village's annual audit. The role also involves assisting the Finance Director with payroll tasks and special projects, while actively promoting the principle of separation of duties. Additionally, the incumbent may contribute to the annual budget preparation process.
This position requires excellent judgment and the ability to perform detailed analytical work with a high degree of financial accuracy. Work is of above-average difficulty and is reviewed for progress and conformance to established procedures by the Director of Finance or their designee. The standard schedule is 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the expectation of working beyond normal hours when necessary to accomplish job requirements.
