United Health Services (UHS) is a locally owned, not-for-profit healthcare system in New York's Southern Tier. Comprising four hospitals, long-term care and home care services, and physician practices in Broome and surrounding counties, UHS provides healthcare and medical services for two-thirds of the region's population. With a workforce of more than 6,300 employees and providers, the system produces $1.3 billion a year in total economic impact.
Our work is guided by the Values of Compassion, Trust, Respect, Teamwork, and Innovation. Whether you provide direct patient care or support behind the scenes, you are part of a shared purpose: to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Every employee plays a meaningful role in fulfilling our mission.
At UHS, we believe every connection—to patients, to purpose, to each other—makes a difference. We are intentional about supporting our team in ways that go beyond the job, fostering a culture where we support each other like family and create space for every voice to be heard. From engagement councils and peer recognition to seasonal celebrations and volunteer days, we strive to help you thrive in work and life.
Located in New York's Southern Tier, UHS offers more than a career—we offer a lifestyle. Enjoy four-season recreation, affordable living, top-rated schools, minor league sports, craft brews, and a close-knit community, all within reach of the Finger Lakes, the Catskills, and major Northeast cities.
The Access Care Representative serves as the vital entry point to United Health Services, performing a wide variety of activities related to scheduling, registration, financial compliance, and customer support. As the face of our hospitals, you will represent UHS in a caring, professional manner, ensuring accurate and complete data collection that directly drives our Billing and Health Information Management Systems.
This role is an intricate part of the registration process, specifically within the Emergency Department. You will be responsible for arriving and registering patients into the EPIC system, obtaining all signatures required by state and federal guidelines, and conducting interviews to verify demographics and insurance eligibility. Your day will also involve scanning necessary documents, collecting co-pays when applicable, and consistently reviewing and maintaining the work queue. By managing these critical access points, you ensure the seamless flow of care for our patients.
United Health Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
