City Year is an AmeriCorps program dedicated to helping students across schools succeed. Our teams of AmeriCorps members provide comprehensive support to students, classrooms, and the entire school community. Our mission is to ensure that students receive a high-quality education that equips them with the necessary skills and mindset to thrive and contribute to their communities.
As a Student Success Coach and Mentor, you will serve as a City Year AmeriCorps Member, focusing on coaching and mentoring elementary, middle, and/or high school students. Your service is designed to help students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors at school.
You will plan and monitor individual student progress while collaborating with teachers on whole-class instruction, breakout spaces, and in-class student assistance. This role is not about having prior experience in every task; instead, you will receive 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to prepare you. You will work alongside partner teachers and school staff every step of the way to create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom environment.
Your day-to-day impact includes supporting whole-school initiatives to increase engagement with students and families. You may conduct extended day and virtual programming before, during, and after school, including academic enrichment, homework support, recreation, and leadership development. You will also help create and co-lead events that recognize student growth in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior.
To apply, visit our online portal at joincityyear.force.com and submit your completed application. For additional information on the application process, please visit cityyear.org. For more details about this specific role, you can also visit our main website.
City Year AmeriCorps members are as varied as the communities we serve. We are looking for individuals who want to build themselves, give back, and are ready to change the world. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds who meet the eligibility requirements to join our mission.
