About the Role
As a City Year AmeriCorps Member, you will serve as a student success coach and mentor for elementary, middle, and/or high school students. This full-time, paid position focuses on coaching and mentoring to help students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. You will play a vital role in planning and monitoring individual student progress while collaborating with teachers on whole-class instruction and in-class assistance.
You do not need prior experience in these tasks to succeed. The program provides 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to prepare you, and you will work alongside partner teachers and school staff every step of the way. Your day-to-day impact will involve creating engaging, safe, and healthy classroom spaces, supporting whole-school initiatives to increase engagement with families, and leading extended day or virtual programming including academic enrichment, homework support, and leadership development.
