City Year is an AmeriCorps program dedicated to helping students across schools succeed. Our teams of AmeriCorps members provide comprehensive support to students, classrooms, and the entire school community. Our mission is to ensure that students receive a high-quality education that equips them with the skills and mindset necessary to thrive and contribute to their communities.
As a Student Success Coach and Mentor, you will serve as a City Year AmeriCorps Member, focusing on coaching and mentoring elementary, middle, and/or high school students. Your service is designed to help students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors at school.
You will work closely with teachers to support whole-class instruction, manage breakout spaces, and provide in-class assistance. While you will plan and monitor individual student progress, you will not need prior experience in these tasks. City Year provides 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to prepare you, and you will be supported by partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.
Your day-to-day impact includes working one-on-one and in small groups to develop literacy and math skills, creating behavior management systems, and fostering interpersonal skills through proven strategies of learning, practice, and reflection. You will also collaborate with the school to create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom environment and support whole-school initiatives to increase engagement with students and families through extended day programming, homework support, and leadership development events.
To apply, visit our application portal at joincityyear.force.com and submit your completed application online. For additional information on the application process, please visit cityyear.org.
City Year AmeriCorps members are as varied as the communities we serve. We are looking for individuals who want to build themselves, give back, and are ready to change the world. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, seeking candidates from all backgrounds who are passionate about education and community service.
