City Year is an AmeriCorps program dedicated to helping students across schools succeed. Our teams of AmeriCorps members provide support to students, classrooms, and the whole school community. Our mission is to ensure that students receive a high-quality education that prepares them with the skills and mindset to thrive and contribute to their community.
As a City Year AmeriCorps Member, you will serve as a student success coach and mentor for elementary, middle, and/or high school students. This entry-level, paid, full-time position focuses on coaching and mentoring to help students earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors at school.
You will work closely with partner teachers and school staff to plan and monitor individual student progress. Your day-to-day impact involves collaborating on whole-class instruction, facilitating breakout spaces, and assisting with in-class student support. Whether working one-on-one or in small groups, you will help students develop literacy and math skills, manage behavior, and build interpersonal abilities through proven strategies of learning, practice, reflection, and repetition.
No prior experience in these specific tasks is necessary. City Year provides 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support your success. You will also have the opportunity to support whole-school initiatives, including extended day and virtual programming, academic enrichment, homework support, and leadership development events.
To apply, visit joincityyear.force.com and submit your completed application online. For more information on the application process, please visit cityyear.org.
