About the Role
As a City Year AmeriCorps Member, you will serve as a student success coach and mentor for elementary, middle, and/or high school students. Your primary focus will be on coaching and mentoring to help students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors at school.
You will work closely with teachers to support whole-class instruction, manage breakout spaces, and provide in-class assistance. While experience in these specific tasks is not required, you will receive 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to prepare you for the role. Throughout your service, you will collaborate with partner teachers and school staff to monitor individual student progress, create engaging classroom environments, and support whole-school initiatives that increase engagement with students and families.
