As a Truck Driver in the Army National Guard, you serve as the backbone of military support. By transporting cargo and supplies, you play an integral role in keeping the Guard moving forward across various terrains and roadways. This position involves operating all wheeled vehicles and equipment, managing the load and safety of personnel, employing defense techniques, and preparing vehicles for movement by air, rail, or vessel.
Unlike traditional training paths, the Army National Guard allows you to get paid to learn valuable job skills. Through this program, you will develop the expertise needed for civilian careers in trucking, moving, or bus companies as a tractor, trailer, heavy truck, or bus driver. You will earn a regular paycheck while qualifying for tuition assistance.
Job training consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training to learn fundamental Soldiering skills, followed by seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). During AIT, you will practice driving several types of military vehicles. The training is a blend of classroom instruction and field operations.
