As a member of the Health Care Team within the Vascular Lab, the X-ray Senior Technical Specialist provides critical technical assistance under the direction of an Attending physician. This role is essential for scrubbing and monitoring a variety of Cardiac, Vascular, and Neuro diagnostic and interventional procedures. Beyond procedural support, the specialist plays a key role in maintaining lab equipment, managing materials and supplies, and overseeing ordering processes to ensure seamless operations.
Patient safety and quality of care are the cornerstones of this position. Employees are expected to adhere strictly to UTMC Service Values, including iCare standards, and to proactively address safety issues within the department. This includes rigorous adherence to radiation safety protocols, such as wearing badges and recording exposure lengths, as well as following strict hand hygiene practices between patients.
The team fosters a safe work environment through continuous education and training. Specialists are empowered to recognize and report equipment dysfunction immediately, ensuring alternate processes are in place to prevent adverse results. Furthermore, the role requires a standardized approach to handoff communication and a commitment to working as a team to limit exposure risks, such as bloodborne pathogens, and to maintain a clean, safe workspace.
