About the Role
As a Wood Truss Designer, you will be responsible for developing layout and design drawings based on architectural drawings or sketches provided to the company. Your day-to-day involves analyzing technical data to ensure designs meet functional and performance specifications, as well as conferring with technical and engineering personnel to prepare necessary design modifications.
You will serve as a key liaison by making phone calls to building designers or professionals to clarify information found on blue-line drawings. The role requires generating placement plans that identify the location of individual designs and analyzing plans or observing material processing to determine specifications for construction activities. Additionally, you may investigate field-modified or damaged products, summarizing this information for professional engineers to evaluate and complete repair drawings when required. The position also involves writing technical descriptions of material qualities and properties, as well as creating rough sketches or arranging finished drawings to illustrate assembly sequences.
