Nourishing Hope, formerly known as Lakeview Pantry, is a dynamic Chicago nonprofit agency founded in 1970. We have evolved to become more than solely a hunger relief organization. Our mission is to serve the needs of the whole person with respect and dignity, providing food, social services such as job and housing assistance, and free mental wellness counseling with a growing team of licensed therapists.
We serve tens of thousands of people each year, providing more than 4 million meals through our programs and partnerships with other community organizations. This year, more than 7,000 low-income neighbors will receive case management and social services. We offer nutritious food using a choice-based distribution model and access to life-changing social services including monthly food distribution, home delivery for older adults and neighbors with disabilities, and support for domestic violence intervention and public benefits assistance.
You will support daily warehouse operations at our West Town and Ravenswood locations, playing a pivotal role in our mission to nourish the community. This position is the backbone of our logistics, managing pallet logistics, preparing food for transport, and ensuring incoming donations strictly adhere to food safety and quality protocols.
In this leadership role, you will supervise and support on-site volunteers in a high-activity environment, teaching them warehouse tasks such as packing, sorting, and pallet building while acting as a mission ambassador through organizational education and site tours. You will coordinate outgoing deliveries according to truck schedules and maintain accurate inventory records to ensure seamless food flow. Additionally, you will be responsible for keeping the facility organized and safe, working closely with the operations team on daily upkeep, cleaning, and basic site maintenance.
Because we are a Medicaid provider, all applicants who are offered employment with Nourishing Hope will be subject to a background screening. Offers of employment are contingent on the successful completion of this screening conducted in accordance with Nourishing Hope policy and federal, state, and local laws.
