About the Role
As the most senior position within our market Distribution Centers, the VP of Operations serves as the primary leader for standalone locations. This role sits at the intersection of strategic vision and hands-on site management, reporting directly to the RVP of Operations while maintaining a dotted-line relationship with the Area President. You will oversee a cluster of 1–3 facilities, ensuring that each location operates as a cohesive unit within the broader supply chain ecosystem.
The core mission of this position is to establish long-term operational objectives that align seamlessly with the company's business goals. You will be responsible for developing and executing a strategic plan that integrates the distinct functions of shipping, receiving, transportation, purchasing, and sales. By fostering collaboration across these departments, you will drive the achievement of shared company targets and ensure the Distribution Center remains a profitable, efficient, and safe environment.
In this capacity, you will guide operations management to maintain strict compliance with government regulations, OSHA standards, and internal safety programs. Your leadership will extend to personnel management, where you will delegate responsibilities, enforce company policies, and oversee the performance of warehouse associates. This includes creating performance improvement plans, administering discipline, and identifying critical training opportunities to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
For unionized facilities, this role also entails negotiating the terms of collective bargaining agreements. You will actively participate in the Operations knowledge center and industry organizations to bring in new know-how and share best practices, ensuring our operations remain competitive and innovative.
