Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is a leading integrated delivery network and a key component of Highmark Health. Together, we are dedicated to advancing the "Living Health" model, which synthesizes advanced digital ecosystems into a cohesive "Operating System for Health." Our mission leverages our extensive clinical footprint to validate and scale digital interventions across a diverse membership, ensuring that technology serves to enhance care delivery rather than complicate it.
The Vice President, Chief Medical Information Officer (VP/CMIO) is a strategic executive role responsible for architecting the digital future of care delivery. This position sits at the critical intersection of clinical practice, health plan operations, and technology innovation. The VP/CMIO will drive the cultural and operational changes necessary to adopt new technologies, fostering a "Living Laboratory" environment where innovation thrives.
In this role, you will balance strategic vision with operational execution and clinical diplomacy. You will serve as the primary liaison between the clinical enterprise, the health plan, and technology divisions, ensuring alignment and facilitating the successful integration of digital solutions. A key aspect of the position is maintaining an active clinical practice to preserve credibility with the medical staff and ensure a firsthand understanding of clinical workflows and needs.
Your day will involve leading the synthesis of diverse digital tools into a unified system that optimizes clinical workflows, reduces administrative burden, and improves documentation quality. You will chair the Clinical Informatics Council to prioritize IT requests, manage vendor relationships, and oversee enterprise standards to reduce unwarranted clinical variation. Beyond strategy, you will be deeply involved in team management, including hiring, coaching, and performance management, while also operationalizing data-driven insights for risk stratification and value-based care performance.
Candidates selected for this executive role will undergo a comprehensive interview process designed to assess strategic vision, clinical credibility, and leadership fit. This typically includes multiple rounds of interviews with senior leadership, the Clinical Informatics Council, and key stakeholders across the health system and health plan divisions.
