The Choice Hospice Volunteer Coordinator is an integral member of the interdisciplinary hospice team, serving as the vital liaison between clinical staff and the volunteer force. This role exists to ensure that volunteers effectively enhance the quality of life for patients and their families while maintaining strict compliance with industry standards and regulations.
In this position, you will drive the lifecycle of the volunteer program, from recruiting and training to retention and performance assessment. You will guide volunteers in their day-to-day administrative and direct patient care services, ensuring their contributions meet the agency's goal of providing volunteer hours equivalent to at least 5% of total paid patient care hours. Beyond management, you will actively participate in the care planning process, documenting volunteer involvement in patient Plans of Care and collaborating with the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) and administration to develop policies that uphold the hospice philosophy.
The ideal candidate brings strong organizational and self-management skills to foster a public relations program that builds strong community and volunteer relationships. You will be responsible for demonstrating the tangible value of the volunteer program through detailed documentation of cost savings and work time, ensuring every effort aligns with local, state, and federal laws.
