Music Kids exists to enrich and improve student development by bringing musical instrument education programs into the local school environment. To date, the organization has taught thousands of students at over 90 active partner schools throughout DC, MD, VA, IL, MO, MA, NY, CT, CA, PA, and WA.
We are looking for enthusiastic and open-minded educators to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. This role is designed for two types of candidates: music teachers who want to expand their horizons into early childhood education, and classroom teachers who want to pivot their careers back into music.
As a Faculty Member, you will teach beginning-level violin, piano, and guitar in small group classes (typically 2-4 students) and some individual lessons on-site at our local partner schools. The position involves a blend of in-school teaching and student performances, alongside out-of-school responsibilities such as parent communication, lesson planning, progress reporting, and supplementary virtual learning. You will also play a key role in promoting the program and driving enrollment at partner school events.
While the ability to teach violin and guitar/piano is strongly preferred, it is not required to apply. We have a particular need for violin teachers, but we welcome applicants for piano and guitar as well. Curriculum resources and assistance are available to help you learn the basics for beginner-level teaching of all three instruments.
Applicants must reside in and be legally qualified to work in the United States and must submit to customary background checks. Selected candidates will work as Music Kids Faculty Members on-site at partner schools, committing to one academic year at a time (typically mid-August to mid-June), with opportunities to extend employment for the additional two summer months.
