About the Opportunity
We are seeking a visionary leader to manage a small, high-performing Surety underwriting team in Dover, DE. This role is designed for an individual with extensive experience in Excess & Surplus lines, specifically within Commercial, Contract, Fidelity, Non-Standard, and Court Surety coverage. The position offers a unique blend of strategic oversight and hands-on underwriting for complex, high-dollar risks.
As a key member of our executive leadership, you will develop and implement underwriting strategies that align with the corporate mission and value proposition. You will be responsible for building a robust book of business, servicing both new and renewal accounts, and managing critical interactions with wholesale brokers. The Role in Action
In this position, you will serve as both a manager and a practitioner. While you will lead staff development, recruit new personnel to meet unmet company needs, and ensure regulatory compliance, you will also personally underwrite complex risks. Your day will involve analyzing rate plans alongside applicant claims history to determine optimal plans, benefits, and rates. You will ensure that all products and rates adhere to laws, regulations, and internal strategies, driving the team toward excellence in a competitive market.
