This Veterinary Technician position is located in Kennett Square, PA (Chester County), approximately 33 miles outside of Philadelphia. The role encompasses operating room responsibilities, sterilizing duties, and general nursing care for large animal patients within the School of Veterinary Medicine. The position reports directly to the Supervisor of Central Supply and Operating Room.
You will play a vital role in the preparation and circulation for all surgical procedures in a large animal hospital. This includes knowledge of aseptic technique, operating various surgery tables and overhead hoist systems, and assisting the surgical team in donning surgical attire and table setup. You will also be responsible for the Pool Recovery System, assigning tasks, and guiding personnel and students. Additionally, you will teach veterinary students and veterinary nursing students, while maintaining surgical requests, logs, and department SOPs.
Please note that there is no public transportation to this location; you must have your own transportation. The position requires the ability to function quickly and react to stressful situations involving patient care, as well as the ability to be within a 20-minute travel time to the hospital when on-call.
