The Veterans' Driver is a vital volunteer position dedicated to supporting Ozaukee County veterans by ensuring they can access essential healthcare. This role exists to bridge the gap between veterans and their VA medical appointments, providing reliable transportation that fosters independence and community care.
As a volunteer, you will operate with minimal supervision to transport veterans to and from their medical appointments using your personal vehicle. Your day involves responding to availability inquiries via phone, text, or email within 24 hours and providing minimal physical assistance to help veterans transfer from wheelchairs or walkers to your vehicle. This position requires a commitment to safety and compassion, often navigating short periods of adverse weather conditions to fulfill your duties.
This is an on-call, volunteer opportunity. Interested individuals must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License and proof of up-to-date vehicle insurance. While no prior experience is required, the ability to assist veterans with vehicle transfers is essential.
