Unit Technicians assist with patient care to support the nursing practice of the unit under the direction of a registered nurse and/or licensed medical professional. In the Cardiac Unit, technicians provide 24/7 continuous surveillance, analysis, and interpretation of patient heart rhythm patterns, blood pressure, and continuous pulse oximetry (SpO2) for inpatients.
In the Emergency Department (ED), technicians collaborate with nursing and consultants when patient parameters are abnormal or critical. This role involves identifying and activating medical emergency response plans, performing ECGs, splinting, and other duties as assigned in the emergency department setting as directed by licensed medical personnel.
Just as our reputation has spread beyond our Minnesota roots, so have our locations. Today, our employees are located at our three major campuses in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona; Jacksonville, Florida; and Rochester, Minnesota, as well as at Mayo Clinic Health System campuses throughout Midwestern communities and international locations. Each Mayo Clinic location is a special place where employees thrive in both their work and personal lives.
