The Unified Communications Engineer serves as the senior technical expert for the design, implementation, and sustainment of enterprise voice, video, and collaboration services. This role is critical to supporting federal mission and business operations by monitoring and optimizing the organization's telecommunications and unified communications (UC) environment. The position ensures high availability, performance, and security while strictly aligning with customer requirements, service level agreements (SLAs), and contract obligations.
In this capacity, you will act as a bridge between complex technical infrastructure and mission-critical business needs. You will collaborate closely with network, security, infrastructure, and service desk teams to plan and execute changes, upgrades, and migrations. Your work involves not only advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex incidents but also the development of standards, runbooks, and configuration baselines. Additionally, you will provide expert guidance and training to internal support teams and customers, ensuring the effective adoption of telecommunications and UC capabilities.
Candidates selected for this role must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance. The selection process includes a review of qualifications, technical assessments, and interviews to evaluate both technical expertise and the ability to communicate complex information to non-technical stakeholders.

Advanced experience integrating UC platforms with contact centers, IVR, recording, and collaboration tools. Relevant industry certifications in telecommunications or unified communications (e.g., vendor UC certifications, VoIP, SIP, or network engineering certifications). Experience supporting or leading telecommunications and UC modernization initiatives, migrations to cloud collaboration platforms, or large multi-site deployments. Familiarity with ITIL-aligned service management practices and working within structured incident, problem, and change management processes. Experience preparing technical reports and recommendations for leadership on telecommunications capacity, performance, risk, and investment priorities.
