This position serves as a specialized diagnostic ultrasound technologist within the Women's Imaging Outreach department, focusing on high-risk obstetrical and maternal-fetal medicine settings. You will perform comprehensive diagnostic imaging examinations under the supervision of a perinatologist, playing a critical role in the evaluation and treatment of complex pregnancies. The role encompasses a wide range of advanced procedures, including fetal echocardiograms, Doppler assessments, biophysical profiles, and ultrasound-guided invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
Your work will directly support patients across the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. You will be responsible for obtaining patient history, correlating clinical data with sonograms, and maintaining detailed records. The role requires a proactive approach to patient safety, encouraging patients to actively participate in their care by asking questions and reporting concerns. You will also maintain aseptic work areas, manage inventory, and perform quality assurance tasks to ensure equipment is properly calibrated.
Success in this role requires the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills and a commitment to improving patient safety by questioning current policies and identifying environmental risks. The position offers opportunities to educate staff in didactic and clinical techniques of diagnostic sonography.
To support staff working non-standard hours, this role includes shift differentials: 17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend days. Additionally, a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available for qualified candidates. Compensation is determined by factors including experience, education, and organizational needs.
Candidates must possess essential credentials, including graduation from an accredited ultrasonography program, two years of directly related experience, and specific certifications such as ARDMS or equivalent state licensure. A valid New Mexico driver's license and vehicle operator's permit are required. Please note that this position may require on-call duties and is subject to random alcohol and substance testing.
