This position serves as a vital support pillar for students throughout the semester, blending direct academic assistance with proactive success coaching. The role is designed to foster student retention and achievement by providing tutoring, supplemental instruction, and personalized guidance. You will work collaboratively with advisors to identify and support at-risk, new, and stop-out students, as well as unique populations including athletes, EOF participants, first-generation students, and nontraditional learners.
Your work will span multiple delivery systems, offering in-person support, synchronous web-based sessions, and email assistance tailored to student needs. Beyond one-on-one tutoring in your area of specialty, you will actively engage in campus retention efforts through collaborative initiatives and projects. The role also involves maintaining the Academic Support Lab's digital presence, including its Canvas site and social media channels, while working closely with library staff on various campus projects. Staying current with curriculum changes and major assignments in your field is essential to providing relevant, timely support.
A successful criminal background check is required as a condition of employment. Candidates must be prepared to establish a primary residence in New Jersey within one year of hire, in compliance with the New Jersey First Act, unless an exemption applies.
