The Opportunity
The Transition House, Inc. is seeking a specialized Trust Accountant to take ownership of fiduciary account reconciliations tied to Department of Corrections (DOC) compliance. This is a high-stakes, detail-driven role where accuracy is mission-critical. You will not be micromanaged; instead, you will be trusted to deliver forensic-level reconciliation work that ensures financial integrity and organizational accountability.

Work Style & Environment
This is a fully independent contractor role where you manage your own workflow. While the position is collaborative when needed, it is autonomous by design. You will have access to the necessary systems and support to get the job done right, with no travel required. The engagement is currently set for 90 days with strong potential for extension.

Requirements
- verifiedProven experience in trust or fiduciary accounting
- verifiedDeep expertise in three-way reconciliations
- verifiedAdvanced Excel skills
- verifiedStrong GAAP knowledge
- verifiedAbility to pass background screening
Nice to Have
Experience in DOC or regulated environments. Familiarity with SecurManage. Knowledge of unclaimed property laws. A track record of untangling complex reconciliation issues. Accounting degree or equivalent experience.
