Truck Driving Companies are currently have an opening for an Over-the-Road (OTR) Truck Driver.oad (OTR) Truck Driver. This position is designed for drivers who are ready to transport freight safely and efficiently across long distances, including multi-state routes. The role is ideal for those comfortable with extended time on the road and a commitment to strict adherence to safety regulations.
Day in the Life
As an OTR driver, your primary responsibility is to operate a Class A commercial tractor-trailer in full compliance with DOT regulations and company policies. Your day involves navigating long-distance, multi-state routes while ensuring timely pickups and deliveries. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate electronic logs, mileage records, and delivery documentation.
Communication is key in this role. You will interact regularly with dispatch to provide updates on route status, report any delays, and confirm delivery schedules. Additionally, you must promptly report any accidents, traffic incidents, or mechanical issues that may arise during transit.
Safety and Compliance
Safety is paramount. You will perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is safe and compliant. You must follow all Hours of Service requirements and properly securing cargo to prevent damage or loss during transit.
Compensation for this role is typically structured as cents per mile (CPM), a cents per mile (CPM), percentage of load, or guaranteed weekly pay. Average annual earnings range from $60,000 to $90,000+, depending on your experience, mileage, and route type. Drivers may also receive additional earnings through detention pay, layover pay, safety bonuses, and performance incentives.
