About the Position

TravelNurseSource is partnering with Mindlance Health to recruit a qualified Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Wesley Children's Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. This 13-week contract offers a unique opportunity to work within a Level II Trauma center, providing critical care to pediatric patients in a dynamic, high-acuity environment.

About the Unit

Located on the 7th floor of Wesley Medical Center, the PICU is a specialized 15-bed unit staffed by a dedicated team of intensivists, RNs, respiratory therapists, and support staff. The unit operates with a rigorous 2:1 patient-to-nurse ratio during day shifts, ensuring focused and intensive care for the most vulnerable patients. The team collaborates closely with dietary, case management, and desk techs to deliver comprehensive treatment plans.

The Role and Environment

As a PICU RN, you will be the frontline of pediatric critical care, managing complex cases that require advanced clinical judgment and resilience. The unit is known for its teaching hospital environment, where professional growth is prioritized. You will utilize Meditech EMR systems and manage critical equipment, including general CR monitoring and CPN. Application and Onboarding

Candidates selected for this role must be prepared to complete specific onboarding requirements, including the PICU RN Exam and the PICU RN Skills Checklist. The hiring process focuses on identifying professionals with a minimum of one year of current acute care hospital PICU experience, alongside active BLS and PALS certifications. Those with CRRT experience or APHON Pediatric Teaching Hospital background are given priority consideration.
